Laptop Policy
We love that Bartons is a place where people come to work, study and create — and we also want it to stay a warm, sociable spot for everyone. So we have a simple laptop policy that keeps both sides happy.
When & Where
Laptops are welcome in The Library and Mrs Barton’s Snug, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Outside these hours, and in all other areas of Bartons, we ask that laptops are put away so everyone can enjoy the space.
Why we do this
Mornings and weekday afternoons are perfect for getting your head down with a coffee, so we keep two of our quietest spaces — The Library and Mrs Barton’s Snug — open for laptop work during those hours.
Evenings and weekends are when Bartons comes alive as a place to eat, drink and be with people. To keep that atmosphere, we ask that laptops are closed at those times, and that the rest of the café stays screen-free so it’s welcoming for everyone.
A few kind requests
If you’re settling in to work, please order something every now and then — it’s what keeps us going. At busy times we may ask laptop users to free up tables for those wanting to eat. And please keep calls and video meetings considerate of the people around you.
